This is part of a teaser for upcoming Noahide superhero comics Rabbi Yitzchak Jetter and Rabbi Moshe Perets have been working on. For context, by the end of the teaser, David will be given a mission of educating people, spreading truth, and leading a team of heroes who do exactly that. Hope you enjoy!
More Important Than Anything
“Mr. Eliyahu would like you to come in.” David looked up from his notebook and saw a nurse. He had been looking at his notes on his family’s finances. He stood up and thanked the nurse, and then walked back into the room.
“Hey, David. Thanks for your patience.”
“Not a problem.”
“I really appreciate your offer, but are you completely sure? I probably can’t pay you back the full 200,000.”
“Don’t worry about it. Miriam and I are doing this because life is sacred, and because it’s the Divine Will. If we never get the money back, that’s fine.”
“Hm. What were you originally going to use that money for?”
“A down payment on a house. But don’t worry. Right now, a house doesn’t matter — you matter.” Eliyahu thinks over these words.
"I was ready to die, David.” He rubs his eye. “I had already let go.” He lets out a breath. Tears finally spill over, streaking down his gaunt face. His fingers press against his eyes as he sobs.
"What do I do now?” Eliyahu asks.
David leans back in his chair, a small, knowing smile on his face. “Live — that’s more important than anything.”
